Built on OpenStreetMap data by the founders of MAPS.ME and the open source community, Organic Maps is an offline maps and GPS application for hiking, cycling and driving. Trails, paths and small places that commercial maps leave out are already on the map.

Because the maps sit on the device, search and routing keep working with no signal, no surprise mobile data charges and less battery drain than a streaming map. Countries and regions download as compact files rather than filling the phone.

The feature set is aimed at people moving under their own power.

  • Outdoor routing: cycling routes, hiking trails and walking paths, with contour lines, elevation profiles, peaks and slopes.
  • Turn-by-turn navigation: walking, cycling and car guidance with voice prompts, plus subway maps and public transport routes.
  • Bookmarks and tracks: import and export in KML, KMZ, GPX and GeoJSON.
  • Places of interest: fast offline search on the map, with Wikipedia articles attached to points of interest.
  • No telemetry: no ads, no tracking, no data collection and no mandatory registration, with the Android build checked by the Exodus Privacy Project and the iOS build by TrackerControl.

The app installs from the App Store, Google Play, Huawei AppGallery, F-Droid and Accrescent, and it is free for everyone. Development is paid for by donations, with targeted grants from the NLnet Foundation and student projects delivered through Google Summer of Code.
