Papra
A minimalist document management and archiving platform for people and small teams who want a searchable long-term digital archive.

Papra is a document management and archiving platform with a deliberately small surface. It is meant for long-term storage, the receipt for a gift bought last year or the warranty for a phone, filed once and found again on the day it finally matters.
The application pairs a SolidJS frontend with a Hono API, Drizzle ORM and Better Auth, plus a self-hosting-friendly job queue the same author maintains. One Docker command brings an instance up, and the configuration options are documented for anything past a first look.
Most of the work goes into getting documents in and finding them later.
- Full-text search: locate documents by their content, narrowed with advanced filters.
- Email ingestion: forward mail to a generated address and its attachments are imported automatically.
- Folder ingestion: anything dropped into a watched folder is picked up without further action.
- Content extraction: text is pulled out of images and scans so they become searchable too.
- Tagging rules: custom rules apply tags as documents arrive rather than afterwards.
- Sharing: hand a document to an outside user with an optional expiry date and password.
Organizations let a family or a team share a library, each with its own custom properties for extra metadata. A command line tool, an API, an SDK and webhooks cover building on top. Upload links for other people are marked as coming soon, while mobile, desktop and browser clients are listed as maybes.
