Malak
Investor updates, metrics, decks and captable in one self-hosted tool, for founders who want to keep control of their fundraising data.
Malak is a performance insights tool for startups and the investors who back them. The commercial alternatives work well enough but limit control and customization, cost thousands to run, or use the company data they hold to sell to other businesses. Malak runs on your own infrastructure, white-label by design, under your own domain.
The backend is Go with PostgreSQL and Redis, the dashboard is Next.js with Tailwind CSS, and Stripe is optional. It ships as a raw binary or a container image, and a migrate command applies schema changes that should be rerun after every upgrade. Configuration is a YAML file or environment variables with a MALAK prefix.
The product covers the fundraising cycle end to end.
- Investor updates: written updates go out by email to anyone on the list.
- Metrics: figures sync automatically from sources such as Mercury, Brex and Stripe.
- Decks: pitch decks are created, managed and shared from the same place.
- Pipeline: the fundraising pipeline tracks where each conversation stands.
- Captable: ownership records stay inside your instance.
- Plans: every workspace carries a plan, so even a private instance can gate features, managed from the CLI.
Self-hosting also wants S3-compatible storage such as MinIO, with a public bucket for images and a private one for decks, plus Google OAuth and either SMTP or Resend for mail. Almost all the code is AGPLv3, while third-party integrations, auto-syncing and the deck viewer sit under a commercial license.
