Lost Pixel

First Lost Pixel screenshots your Storybook, Ladle or Histoire stories and the pages of a running application, then it compares each new image against the accepted baseline and reports what moved. A config file at the project root and a GitHub workflow are the entire setup.

Integrations are first class for Storybook, Ladle and Histoire: hand over the build and the tool does the rest. Page shots cover frontend applications such as Next, Gatsby and Remix once you list the paths to test, and custom shots handle anything outside those categories.

• Multiple browsers: runs happen in Chrome, Firefox or Safari.
• Responsive checks: breakpoints and viewports are covered in the same run.
• Thresholds: comparison sensitivity is adjustable, so tiny differences need not fail a build.
• Masking: chosen parts of the interface are excluded from comparison.
• Flakiness controls: retries and arbitrary code executed before a run cut down on noise.

The open source mode generates and compares images inside your pipeline and fails on a difference. Parallel execution is limited there, while the approval flow, the review interface and monorepo execution belong to the hosted Lost Pixel Platform.

The code stays MIT licensed, but check the status before adopting it: the team announced it is joining Figma, the product is being sunset, and the repository is archived.
