LosslessCut

LosslessCut is a cross-platform interface to FFmpeg for fast, lossless work on video, audio, subtitle and related media files. The main use is rough-cutting large recordings from a camera, GoPro or drone, keeping the good parts and discarding many gigabytes without a slow re-encode that costs quality.

Speed comes from an almost direct data copy, with FFmpeg underneath doing the grunt work. Because nothing is re-encoded, a job a conventional editor would spend an hour on finishes in seconds, at the price of cutting around keyframes, which the timeline supports with zoom and keyframe jumping.

The feature list runs well past simple trimming.

• Segment editing: cut parts out, rearrange segments, label and annotate them, and save cut points to a project file.
• Track operations: combine tracks from several files, remove tracks, extract every track separately, or re-encode only some.
• Merging and remuxing: concatenate files with identical codec parameters, or move streams into a different container format.
• Automatic splitting: black scene, silent audio and scene change detection divide a timeline, as do fixed lengths, sizes or segment counts.
• Export and import: full-resolution snapshots, frame ranges as images, and cut lists as chapter marks, CSV, CUE, XML or YouTube format.

Metadata editing covers file, track and disposition level, including rotation and a per-file timecode offset, and an expression language handles advanced segment queries and mutations. Undo and redo, customizable hotkeys and a view of the last FFmpeg command make it a quick front end for anyone who could write those commands but would rather not.
