Loops
A federated short video platform built on ActivityPub, for communities that want a short form feed under their own moderation.
Open Source Alternative to:

Short video was the format the open social web still lacked. Loops fills it with a server and web application that publish over ActivityPub, so a community can run its own instance and still reach people on Loops, Pixelfed, Mastodon and anything else speaking the same protocol.
The repository holds both the server and the web app, with continuous integration running ESLint, Prettier, TypeScript checks, Larastan and Laravel Pint on every push. Deployment follows a written installation guide, and a Docker Compose setup is documented as the alternative.
What an instance gives its members is familiar territory.
- Feeds: Following and For You timelines alongside hashtags, profiles and individual videos.
- Interactions: comments, replies, mentions, likes, shares and boosts.
- Federation: accounts and posts travel between servers instead of staying on one site.
- Moderation: every server sets its own rules, policies and practices.
- Open API: a JSON REST API secured with OAuth 2.0, open to anyone with no approval or partnership needed.
- Translations: the interface is localized through Crowdin.
Loops is licensed under AGPLv3 and funded in part through NGI Zero Core, a fund established by NLnet with support from the European Commission's Next Generation Internet program. Video for the flagship service is served through CDN and object storage provided by the Fastly Fast Forward program.
