Faved

Faved is a private bookmark manager for people whose collections outgrew the browser bar. Flat folders stop working somewhere in the low thousands, so Faved builds its organization on nested tags instead and keeps every common action one click away.

The backend runs on PHP 8, SQLite and Apache; the frontend is TypeScript, React, Tailwind, shadcn UI and Vite. A self-hosted install has no external dependencies and stores all data locally.

Most of the design effort went into handling volume without turning into a filing chore.

• Nested tags: group Go and Python under Programming Languages and Backend, with colors, descriptions, pinning and optional rollup of items from child tags.
• Automatic fetching: titles, descriptions and preview images are pulled in on save, and duplicates are flagged as you add them.
• Bulk actions: delete, refetch or retag many bookmarks at once, with search, filtering and editing available without changing screens.
• Configurable views: card, list and table layouts with adjustable fields and sidebar, plus light and dark modes synced to the system.
• Capture from anywhere: a Chrome extension, a lightweight bookmarklet for any browser, and Apple Shortcuts for the share sheet on iOS, iPadOS and macOS.
• Import and migration: Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge imports keep the original folder structure as nested tags, and Raindrop.io and Pocket move over with their collections intact.

The app is responsive and installable as a PWA. Self-hosting is free under the MIT license, and a cloud plan covers backups and support for anyone who would rather not run it.
